Worship Night – Renaissance

by Miguel Bautista

“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:1-4

When we scheduled our 6th Worship Night on Pentecost Sunday, we were expecting a move from the Holy Spirit. As young Christians, we’ve received Jesus in our hearts, but leaving our bad habits behind and choosing to be led by the Spirit is still a daily battle. We knew we couldn’t just pick any date for the Worship Night, and since the objective is to unite with our brothers and sisters in Christ through Worship: what better date than Pentecost Sunday, as we commemorate the birth of the Church through the work of the Holy Spirit?

As young and old gathered on May 28th, songs of worship, both in English and in French, filled His temple.

At Pentecost, though Christ was no longer physically present with His disciples, His Spirit never left them; and has never left us since. The same Spirit that spoke through the prophets, that raised Jesus from the dead, is our guarantee of Everlasting Life and gives us the boldness and wisdom to share the Good News. As our souls were refreshed with a new heart and a new spirit, we ended the night with some good food, laughter and quality fellowship.
